Mariah Carey

In My Opinion, Mariah Carey is a timeless singer, who got her start and fame in the 1990s, but is somewhat underestimated in the new decade, and by the generation. My goal is to remind my generation what a talent artist Mariah Carey really is.

*200 Million Albums, Singles, and Albums sold worldwide
*1 of 2 known R&B artist to reach the Whistle Register(Seen Below) with her voice
*Possesses a 5-Octave Vocal Range
*Named the Top Selling Recording Artist of the 90s by the WMAs (World Music Awards
*The 1st recording artist to have her 1st 5 singles in the Billboard Top 100 Chart
*Spent 79 consecutive Weeks at #1 on Billboard Top 100, making her the artist with the most weeks spent at #1 in US History

Are just a few facts named of the artist. Mariah Carey.

I could go on for days about her legacy, but decided to share some oldies, but goodies.

Mariah Carey is best known for her use of the Whistle Register, which is the highest note that can be hit by a human being on record. (Minnie Ripperton is also known for her use of the Whistle Register.) Which can be heard in her song, Emotions (seen below) Her vocal range is very wide, from bottom Alto to Coloratura Soprano.
Whistle Register can be heard at 2:48 and 3:47

Mariah's FIRST Single was Vision of Love which is what Beyonce' Knowles credits for her practicing runs as a child. (An example of such runs can be heard at 2:50)

Mariah's rendition of "All I Want for Christmas is You" was the only holiday single and ringtone to reach platinum status.

HERE ARE SOME PERSONAL FAVORITES OF MINE:

A soft, slow ballad called "My All"

"Butterfly" is a song w/ the message of letting go.

The popular song "Hero"

MY FAVORITE song off of the "Butterfly" Album-"Babydoll"

"One Sweet Day" ft. Boyz II Men- a song for loved ones lost.

From Puffy to P.Diddy

Sean P.Diddy Combs, formerly known as Puffy, Puff Daddy, & most recently, Diddy, is one of the most successful African-American moguls of his time. In 2006 his net worth was $346 Million.
Even in all of his obnoxiousness, P.Diddy is one of my favorite personalities, as well as a role model for me. In honor of his newest project, Last Train to Paris being released TOMORROW, I've decided to tell the history of Puffy, Puff Daddy, and P.Diddy, through video. ENJOY!

Upon P.Diddy's discharge from Uptown Records, he then took Notorious BIG and created his own company, Bad Boy Records. He signed artists such as 112, Faith Evans, and Carl Thomas, and produced for artists such as Mary J. Blige and Jodeci

"Can't hold me down" was the first single released officially as rapper "Puff Daddy", for his first project, "NO WAY OUT". The video features Jennifer Lopez, one of P.Diddy's ex-girlfriends.

I'll Be Missing You was the 2nd Single, honoring the passing of The Notorious BIG (RIP)

**Both singles debuted as #1 on the Billboard Top 100

P.Diddy signed the California girl-group DREAM

& The Saga Continues...(released in 2002)

In 2002, Diddy created his own show, "Making the Band 2", which in result created "Da Band", whom which Diddy dismantled at the end of the season.

Press Play! (released in 2006)

Making the Band 3 consisted of Diddy trying for another group, creating "Danity Kane"

Making the Band 4 consisted not only of Danity Kane, but his all male group Day 26, and Donnie Klang

Which brings me to the present day! Diddy's most recent group, Dirty Money, consists of Dawn from Danity Kane, and Kalenna Harper.

With titles such as "Loving You No More", and "Coming Home" to look forward to, Last Train To Paris should not disappoint. I will be buying :D!
